To help protect children’s health and allow them to stay in school, some areas require that students of a certain age have back-to-school dental examinations prior to the new school year. Cavities are exceedingly common in children. They are also a painful distraction–especially when children are trying to focus on learning in the classroom. Many children get nervous about visiting the dentist and are less likely to communicate if they have pain in their tooth. A back-to-school exam can help catch issues before they worsen.
